How to leave a gift in your Will
Below you’ll find simple tips about how to word your gift, as well as information about our Wesley Wills Day to help you make leaving a gift in your Will easy.
Wording your gift
If you are creating your own Will, we request you use the following wording to ensure your gift is received by us.
“I give…….. to Wesley Mission of 220 Pitt Street Sydney NSW for the general purposes thereof”.
Should you wish to direct the gift to a special area of Wesley Mission, the following is recommended.
“I give……… to Wesley Mission of 220 Pitt Street Sydney NSW for the specific area of…….
(e.g. “its religious purposes” or “its caring services for the homeless”,etc.)
We also recommend including the following.
“…and the receipt executed on behalf of Wesley Mission shall be sufficient discharge for my Trustee and my Trustee shall not be bound to see the application of the said gift.”
Wesley Wills Days
Wesley Wills Days are a great opportunity to speak with a legal professional before writing your Will. We host a number events each year where independent solicitors are on hand to prepare simple Wills at a fraction of the normal cost.
Attending a Wesley Wills Day:
- helps you to look after your loved ones by preparing your Will
- gives you an opportunity to help your local community with your small service fee going to support our work
- provides of mind, with an independent lawyer professionally preparing your Will for much less than the normal cost.
This event may also be an opportunity for you to consider leaving a gift (of any size) in your Will to support Wesley Mission's work. But, there is no obligation, and naturally, you will want to make sure that you take care of your family and loved ones first. Any gift you leave to charity should not impact upon your ability to provide for those most important to you. Find out where we will be holding our upcoming Wills Days
