Change the life of a young person! The Wesley Kickstart Program is looking for compassionate live-in Foster Carers to support young people (15-18) in Foster Care. Wesley Kickstart aims to empower young people to by giving them the tools to continue to lead a healthy, safe and supported life after leaving care by:

  • providing positive role modelling
  • engaging a young person's social and recreational skills
  • offering emotional and practical support
  • encouraging and demonstrating engagement in education, employment, self-care, communication and positive behaviour

Working with several young people, you will have the chance to offer the support, stability and consistency which will enable them to thrive and become the absolute best versions of themselves!

Responsibilities include:

  • being a positive role model
  • assist in developing interpersonal skills and positive lifestyle choices
  • liaise with support staff regularly and contact the on-call worker in case of an emergency
  • demonstrate and encourage participation in positive daily routines and commitments including household tasks
  • to maintain confidentiality
  • to act in the best interest of the young people
  • ensure the that Wesley Kickstart policies and procedures are adhered to

A team of qualified case workers are also on hand to provide ongoing support.

This position is perfect for an individual or couple with:

  • empathy and good listening skills
  • perseverance when things get tough
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • patience and humour
  • ability to commit time and energy to developing appropriate relationships and resolve minor in-house disruptions

The essentials:

  • Are currently or be willing to become an authorised Foster Carer
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence
  • Willingness to undertake necessary training
  • Current or willingness to obtain Working With Children’s Check and First Aid Certificate
