2016 NSW Volunteer of the Year Finalist

1 September 2016 Wesley Mission news

Now in its 11th year, the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates the outstanding contribution and commitment of the two million plus volunteers and not-for-profit organisations in NSW while promoting the importance of volunteering in the community.

This year, we’re proud to share that the Wesley Aunties & Uncles program volunteers are finalists for the 2016 Awards. This is much deserved recognition for our volunteers’ hard work and dedication.

Wesley Aunties & Uncles provides children with mentoring, care and guidance in a stable family environment. Volunteer mentors involved in the program are assessed by qualified staff and then matched appropriately according to the needs of the child.

“These incredible, high calibre volunteers are the backbone of our program and their dedication and commitment to vulnerable children and our amazing program is unprecedented... As without them we would not be able to operate and provide the great quality care and mentoring for over 120 vulnerable children every year and beyond. I am so proud and honoured to lead and support such an amazing group of Volunteers.” Michelle Parrish, Manager - Wesley Dalmar Aunties & Uncles.

Congratulations to Michelle and her 200-strong team of volunteers, some of who have been with Wesley Mission for two decades. We thank them again for their continuing and valuable work to support disadvantaged children and their families.
