Be thrifty and donate to Wesley Retail during National Op Shop Week
Did you know Wesley Mission has its very own op shop?
Our Wesley Retail store in Wallsend, in the Newcastle region, is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and raises funds for critical community services, including accommodation services, emergency food and care packages and counselling support.
In light of National Op Shop Week from 27 August to 2 September, we’re inviting you to be thrifty and support those who are struggling in our communities by either donating or shopping at Wesley Retail.
Reuse, reinvent and recycle
National Op Shop week is more than simply finding a bargain. It’s an opportunity to take care of our environment and reduce landfill. As you begin your wardrobe cull or attempt to declutter your home, we ask you to consider whether your goods or clothing are in quality condition.
- Broken, ripped or soiled items can’t be sold, leaving op shops the costly problem of removing these items and ultimately taking funds away from helping the community.
- Don’t be part of the problem by illegally dumping items at op shops.
- Test your goods, especially electrical appliances, before donating. Don’t bother donating something that doesn’t work.
Help the environment and reduce waste by donating quality clothing and goods to Wesley Retail.
Wesley Retail also accepts corporate donations of surplus stock. This allows us to direct items to people in need, or on-sell them in bulk, providing much needed financial support to our broader community services
