Shop for a good cause at Wesley Stalls and Wesley Fair
Are you looking for the perfect present on a budget? Or does your wardrobe need a seasonal update? Look no further than the Wesley Monthly Stalls, bringing you an array of great value items that you won’t find on the high street.
Each month at the Wesley Centre in Sydney’s CBD you’ll find a bargain hunters haven. Plants, cards, jewellery, fashion, crafts, books, DVDs, clothing, homewares and toys are all on offer, as well as tasty baked goods and cakes for those who fancy a snack while perusing.
In November each year, the stalls are taken one step further with the iconic Wesley Fair. Known as one of the city’s longest-running events, the tradition of Wesley Fair will celebrate its 105th anniversary in November. Originally an initiative of the Ladies Auxiliary Committee of the then Central Methodist Mission, it is now run almost entirely by Wesley Mission volunteers.
In addition to the broad selection of gifts and goodies, Wesley Fair treats shoppers to a live auction, entertainment and delicious food dishes. For the office workers, tourists and supporters of Wesley Mission who attended the 2017 fair, highlights included performances from Wesley Mission’s Samoan choir, Christian hip-hop group, Krosswerdz and traditional French crepes.
The best thing about Wesley Stalls and Wesley Fair? All proceeds go towards offering support for people in need—amazingly the profits of Wesley Fair amounted to over $18,000 last year. All money raised goes towards Wesley Connect, a food and care program that helps Sydney’s homeless population and those doing it tough to get back on their feet.
We always appreciate donations of new and nearly new items for these events, but they must be pre-arranged before being dropped off. If you’re interested in volunteering for these events we would love to hear from you as well! Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call (02) 9263 5432 to learn more about donating or volunteering.
