"Religious values, the ones that were so important to me, and my growing up and maturation, are things that are sort of part of my DNA, in a way they're not articulated but expressed in what I do and like Jesus would do, he would sit along side people, and simply be with them. I think being is a really hard challenge for people..." Don Palmer

Keith's message: The inner life

In this week's Rev Keith Garner continues in James 3:13-18; 4:3, 7-8 exploring the practical and moral emphasis when James places on the Christians to get rid of all envy and selfish ambition which in due course leads to disorder and division. God’s wisdom is peaceable and gentle. James contends that all conflicts and desires come from within. We should seek God’s will and purpose.

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbour bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness."

"Here he is talking about the inner life but not in a pious—a way that is rejecting people—but saying this inner life can make such a difference to the way we live our lives outwardly, day by day as we come near to God, so He comes near to us, and guides the way that we perceive living our lives..."
